How Copilot recommends
How Copilot sees you
Of 38 businesses measured, one in two is never named by Copilot. The difference comes down to the sites it reads before answering, and those sites can be reached.
Every assistant reads the web its own way
Each assistant reads a different number of sites before answering, and names whoever it finds there. If your business isn't on the sites it reads, for that assistant it doesn't exist.

The 12 platforms do not share one measurement window: the shortest belongs to Microsoft Copilot, 15 days; the longest to Perplexity, 62 days. The numbers in each row hold for its own window, not for a period they all have in common.
What counts for you is being on exactly the sites it reads: the platform tells you which they are.
How it recommends
Copilot names lots of businesses, three or four per answer on average: getting into its answers is possible, and every extra site you appear on makes you come back more often.
How much it's used.
Every assistant has its own audience, and its users trust the names it gives. If Copilot doesn't name you, those people don't find you.

It reads as much as the others.
Copilot reads three or four sites to answer, about as many as ChatGPT. It's not how many that makes the difference, but which ones: if your business is on exactly those sites, it gets named. The good news is that the platform tells you which they are.

Who gets onto those sites
These are the sites Copilot reads most often when someone asks for a recommendation. And they're not the same as ChatGPT's: only one site in ten is shared between the two. The good news is that these sites can be known one by one, and the platform tells you which ones you're missing from.

You come up on one and not the other
When a business gets named, in eight cases out of ten only one of the two assistants does it. Whoever shows up on Copilot often doesn't show up on ChatGPT, and the other way round. Your customers don't all use the same one: that's why the platform measures them all, and tells you where you're missing.
Same practice, three different answers.
Studio Odontoiatrico Del Malvo, a dentist in Turin. On 1 September the platform asked three assistants the same five questions. Grok named it in all five, Perplexity in three, ChatGPT in none.
The questions in this reading
- 1.Qual è il dentista migliore a Torino?
- 2.Dove mi conviene andare dal dentista qui a Torino?
- 3.Quale studio dentistico preferire a Torino se ho paura?
- 4.Mi consigliate un dentista bravo e onesto a Torino?
- 5.C'è un dentista consigliato in centro a Torino?
Answer by answer
If this were your business and you only looked at ChatGPT, you'd think you didn't exist. If you only looked at Grok, you'd think you were doing great. The good news is that in one minute you can see where you really stand, on all of them.
Here there are two layers
On Copilot two different things live inside the same answer: the businesses it names, and the sites it cites as sources. They do not come together.
The names are always there. When someone asks for a restaurant or an agency in Costa Adeje, Copilot answers with three or five proper names, in bold, with the address and phone number next to them. That is what your customer reads, and that is what the platform counts.
The sources are not. The same answer may carry no link at all: on real-estate questions Mador did not see a single one. A service looking only at links would report no data in front of an answer full of your competitors' names.
Frequently asked questions
Why doesn't my business come up on Copilot?
Because Copilot reads certain sites before answering and names whoever it finds there. One in two of the businesses measured is never named. It's not a punishment, it's a selection, and you get in by being where it reads. The good news is that a selection can be won.
How do I get Copilot to name me?
By being on the sites it reads. For a local business these are mostly city guides, category pages and review portals. The first step is knowing which ones matter for your area and category, and the free scan tells you in one minute. Then Mador writes the pages you're missing and lets you know when something changes.
Does Copilot say where it gets its information?
Not always. About four answers in ten arrive without saying which sites it read. That's why the platform doesn't stop at the sites: it always reads the names inside the answer too.
If I come up on ChatGPT, do I come up on Copilot too?
Not necessarily. When ChatGPT names you, Copilot does too in less than half of cases. They read different sites, which is why it pays to watch them all.
What data are these figures based on?
On every measurement the platform has run on Copilot from September 13, 2026 to September 27, 2026: 65 answers to 65 different questions, for 38 businesses in 6 areas and 4 categories. Each assistant has its own measurement days, and the numbers update with every new measurement.
Let's see whether you come up, and who comes up instead of you
In a minute you'll know whether ChatGPT and Perplexity name you, and which names they give instead of yours. With a plan you measure Copilot too. It's free, and your email gets you into the platform.
