ReadableCan AI read your site?

Paste the address of a page. In a few seconds you see how much of it AI assistants read, what stops them and what to change, tailored to how your site is built.

Two ways to lose AI assistants

Readable keeps them apart, because they are fixed in different places.

[01]

They can't get in

robots.txt shuts the door on their readers, or a protection such as Cloudflare's answers automated readers with a verification page. The assistant does not open your site and answers with what it finds elsewhere.

[02]

They get in, but find an empty page

The site builds its text with JavaScript, in the browser. Assistants' readers usually don't run it: they read the HTML that arrives, and there is almost nothing there. It often happens with sites built with Lovable, Bolt or v0.

What it checks

  • The text that arrives without JavaScript, compared with what you see
  • robots.txt, one assistant at a time: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and the others
  • Cloudflare and other protections that answer with a verification page
  • Title, description, language, canonical address and headings
  • Structured data about the business and FAQs
  • llms.txt and sitemap
  • Phone, e-mail and address written in the text, and the business name
  • The platform the site is built on, to tell you where to change what

Mador's reader

Readable reads pages with a reader that introduces itself as MadorReadable, with a link to this page. It opens only the address pasted here and, on the same site, robots.txt, llms.txt, the sitemap and the home page. It follows no other links, fills in no forms and downloads no images. To see the page the way you see it, it also opens it in a browser, still as Mador's reader.

The reader never pretends to be GPTBot or any other AI reader: protected sites recognise the real readers by their address, and a fake GPTBot would be stopped anyway, giving a false result. That is why, when the site answers with a verification page, Readable says it may be blocking assistants too, not that it certainly is.

The engine behind the check is open source, MIT licensed: it is called readable-by-ai and also runs from the command line.
